Save the Children advert: Senior Project Officer based in Ambon

Save the Children is a leading, private child-focused non-governmental
alliance of 29 member organizations that works in 120 countries
throughout the world. Save the Children has worked in Indonesia since
1976 to promote health and nutrition, education, child protection,
livelihoods, and emergency preparedness and response. Save the Children
has grown enormously in the country and today we operate in 13 provinces
across Indonesia. Our program approach now brings long term and
sustainable benefits to more Indonesian children and we work to
establish effective, self-sustaining approaches to issues related to
child protection, health, education, livelihoods, emergency response and
disaster risk reduction. Save the Children partners with children,
communities, local organizations and the government of Indonesia to
transform the lives of Indonesia children and their families. Currently
Save the Children has an immediate need for experienced staffs to be
part of our Education Program Team and will be based in Ambon, Maluku.

The position we are looking for is:

Senior Project Officer (SPO-Amb) - 1 post, based in Ambon

Job Responsibilities:

1. Develop an implementation strategy for the education project
activities to ensure clear guidance and standards for all programme
staffs and ensure these are in compliance with the project proposal

2. Plan, organize, coordinate, facilitate, monitor and evaluate the
day to day implementation of the education activities in the project
(will include preparing of materials, creating work plan, budget plan,
providing community workshops and trainings, child led participatory
research, Parent-Child Meetings etc), to ensure effectiveness and
maintain good quality and consistency of the work within the MDP
proposal's goal and objectives

3. Develop effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting system
(including documenting activities), to ensure the effectiveness of
project implementation

4. Develop and submit operational budget plans and review its usage
periodically, to ensure that project expenditures are used within limits
and guidelines approved by Program Manager

5. Managed delegated budget lines if any

6. Provide technical and management support to program staff as part
of the staff development policy, to ensure skill improvement of the
staff in providing high quality and effective work

7. Develop the capacity of Save the Children staff and key
stakeholders (local government officers), in order to ensure the
sustainability of the programme and provide advice on education matters
during project implementation

8. Develop, maintain and improve mutual and beneficial relationships
with key stakeholders and provide capacity building through advocacy
(including government officials, school teachers and community leaders)
to ensure successful implementation of the projects

9. Develop, maintain and improve work coordination with local key
partners (community, NGO, international bodies), to ensure the
successful implementation of the project activities

10. Develop progress reports periodically (including drafting donor
reports, security report) to Program Manager, in order to ensure the
provision of accurate, updated information and maximize donor's trust

11. Ensure that there is excellent communication and cooperation within
the team and between all the Save the Children projects in Maluku

12. Participate and provide inputs for proposal / program development

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor Degree in Education or Social Sciences. Other
professional qualification is advantage.

Skill and Experiences:

* Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing education
projects in community and child-focused activities

* Experienced in overall project management and proposal writing

* Experienced in developing, maintaining and improving
relationship with local government

* Understanding of education and child protection program

* Proven skills in financial and staff management 

* Good communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills both
in English and Bahasa Indonesia

* Computer literate

* Strong in: team leadership, impact and influence, relationship
building, analytical thinking and developing others

* Having high initiative
